The Supreme Court’s recent ruling in Arizona v. Gant, 556 U.S. ____, No. 07-542 (Apri. 21, 2009), limiting the scope of a vehicle search once “an arrestee has been secured and cannot access the interior of the vehicle,” has its newest fan today. Mr. Majette, previously sentenced to 120 months for possession with intent to distribute, is free to go. He has to leave his drugs behind, though. See the Fourth Circuit’s ruling here.
